F.A.Q.
Q. Will everyone who applies get into the League?A. The short answer is no. The long answer is that The Peacekeepers have a set of established guidelines they use to determine a character’s eligibility for becoming a Peacekeeper. While we will never discourage anyone from submitting an application, not everyone will make it into the League.
Q. I am considered to be unpopular in the DCUO community. Will that affect my entry into The Peacekeepers?A. We pride ourselves on accepting well developed and original characters that belong to mature and respectful people. If you are unpopular because you tend to act like a buffoon or insult people then yes, it will directly affect your chances of joining The Peacekeepers. If you are unpopular because you are a quiet person who prefers to interact with like minded people then no it will not affect your chances at becoming a Peacekeeper. We are not a League for cool kids only.
Q. Does your starting area have to be Metropolis in order to be a Peacekeeper?A. No. The Peacekeepers is a global organization made up of like minded heroes. We encourage our members to explore the world of DCUO to its full potential. That being said, we will eventually host league meetings at a central location.
Q. Does my character have to follow a specific type of look in order to become a Peacekeeper?A. Sort of. While we have no exact “type” that we look for we do look for well rounded designs that are both pleasing to the eye while emitting some form of originality. We do not look for outrageous characters who try to push the boundaries of what a hero should look like. A safe bet is to go with tights, clothing or a combination but try to avoid a clown suit with pink and purple polka dots.
Q. When will you begin recruiting new members?A. At the start of DCUO’s Beta phase. Until that time we ask that you hold on to you applications and take this time to develop your characters more. When recruitment begins please feel free to send your completed application to:
peacekeepers@live.caQ. How will your League handle cross platform game play?A. As we understand it, PS3 users and PC users will be playing the same game on the same servers. If this turns out to be correct, we will be like any regular League. Should PS3 users and PC users be segregated, we will have the League operating in both communities simultaneously running duplicate events, etc. However this outcome is highly unlikely based upon early reports by SOE.
Q. Will the Peacekeepers be on one server and if so, which server will it be?A. The Peacekeepers will designate one server as our “Home Server” in which all League activities will be handled. Depending on how DCUO creates its various servers we plan to settle on an RP or Normal server and avoid PVP servers due to their unsavoury attitude towards the RP community. That being said, we will have PVP and support it fully.
Q. Why should potential members fill out an application? A. We require our potential members to fill out and submit an application in order to select the best possible members for our League. This also allows for a fair and equal opportunity for everyone to make it into The Peacekeepers.
Q. Will The Peacekeepers eventually have a Ventrillo server?A. At this time no. The cost to run a Vent server is rather high and we are unequipped to run such a thing at this time. We will however be supporting DCUO’s in game voice chat and currently use Windows Live Messenger to chat with fellow League members.
Q. Is there a member cap in The Peacekeepers? If so how high is it?A. Yes. The current member cap is 20 but is subject to change once we learn the maximum and minimum numbers for a raid team in DCUO at launch.
Q. Can you give potential members who aren’t accepted a short critique to help them improve their character?A. Unfortunately no. Since the Peacekeepers holds large recruitment drives we can get many applications and do not have the time to go over all of the ones who do not make the cut and give them individual critiques.
Q. Will The Peacekeepers only team with their fellow Peacekeepers?A. No. The Peacekeepers encourage inter League teaming AND teaming with non League members equally. We have many friends and family members outside our League that plan on playing DCUO and it would be unfair to prevent anyone the chance of teaming with each other.
Q. Does or will The Peacekeepers accept alternate characters other then mains?A. No. We are a League of main characters and as such have decided against allowing alternate characters to join due to activity issues. We will have a Reserve membership eventually for these types of characters but at this time we are not accepting Alts.
Q. Can my character belong to The Peacekeepers and an additional League?A. No. We expect our members to maintain their status with one league. Should they wish to develop an alternate character then they are free to place that character in any League or Legion that they wish.
Q. Could you help me to develop my character to be more iconic?A. While we don’t try to interfere too deeply with the creation process we can from time to time give out the occasional suggestion to help in a character’s development. Should you become a Peacekeeper down the road, you will have the benefit of working on your character with a League of like minded people with a rich and detailed knowledge of character development.
Q. How will The Peacekeepers handle international servers?A. While our home server will be in the US, we do have many members overseas. Our suggestion should DCUO restrict access to US servers from oceanic players is to create a US account and use that to play with us.
Q. You have just posted version two of your application. Should I resubmit?A. No. If you have already submitted your character using our original application then you do not need to resubmit. If you are submitting your character for the first time please use the latest application. If you are unhappy with your previous applications then you are welcome to resubmit.
Q. What format should I save my application in?A. Please save your application in .doc or .rtf format. We don't have access to every kind of word processor out there so formats other then .doc or .rtf will be deleted.
Q. Is there an evil equivalent of The Peacekeepers?A. Not at this time. As a League of well developed characters, we understand the need to have an evil counterpart. As such we do plan to implement a Legion of evil alts eventually that will feature our own evil characters. This Legion will function similarly to our Hero League but will be unavailable to recruitment and strictly for member alts only.
Q. When is the best time to submit my application? A. When the second recruitment phase begins at the start of DCUO’s Beta Phase.
Q. Will you have a teen League or a League for golden age characters?A. Not at this time. We currently have no plans to implement a teen or Golden age League.
Q. Are you only accepting role players?A. While RPing is part of being a Peacekeeper, it is not the only part. If you can make a good effort every now and again in a RP event that that’s all we ask. When you fill out your application there is a RP section designed to gauge your RP skills.
Q. Should I apply at the website or via email?A. Our homepage is for our members to have a safe place to converse. Therefore any non-member that applies via the homepage will be denied access. We want everyone who decides to apply to submit their application (found in the How to Join section) via email to:
peacekeepers@live.caQ. May I send PM's to the founders or Elite officers or add them on Windows Live Messenger in hopes of getting accepted into The Peacekeepers?A. No. Anyone who does this will recieve an automatic response informing them that their application for invite into the Peacekeepers was denied. We use this site to learn about you as a person and your application will tell us all we need to know about your character if it's filled out correctly. Should you have a question regarding The Peacekeepers please send it via email to:
peacekeepers@live.ca and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Q: Do you accept tech heroes or just heavy hitters?A: Yes, our roster has several heroes of a wide variety, most of our members aren't flying bricks. For example, my character, Gray Wolf, is completely human but is exceptional with the bow, uses various tech devices and stealth to get an edge on the opposition, and uses her agility and intelligence rather than her strength to get the job done. Tremor has terrakinetic abilities, but is really about as vulnerable as any human; Agent Pollo is described as being at the peak of human Olympic human condition, but he still has his physical weaknesses.
Q: Does it matter how old you are?A: In character, our youngest members are Megasect and Nimbus (18 and 19, respectively). We're aiming for adult characters and we haven't been planning on a teen Peacekeepers group, but there are other supergroups beginning to form that are Teen Titan-themed. As far as age is concerned with the actual player, we tend to accept a more mature crowd; however, this does not rule out players of younger ages. If you can show us maturity coupled with an excellent, well thought out original character, then we would accept that into the group.
Q: What makes the Peacekeepers so popular?A:The popularity probably comes from a variety of reasons, but one reason we suppose is our community presence. Pretty much all of the Peacekeepers are active on the Source in one way or another; we're also really excited about the group and are putting a lot of our creativity into our characters and, as a result, into the whole of the Peacekeepers.
